Finally had the opportunity to tear down a UB stock battery and the results: the pack is not rebuild-able. The pack contains pouch cells that are potted in very tough clear glue that would be all but impossible to remove. I suppose if you had a hydraulic press and a special fixture, you could press out the pouch groups, but that would be a big mess. I'm just pretty disappointed in Surron that they have created such an amazing quality pack that has to be thrown away when it's time to renew. This just isn't sustainable in any way and I can't believe that it's happening. One would almost start to think that the companies who develop these very expensive packs don't want them to be rebuild-able...

First look under the cap - amazing engineering and cable management.

Lifting the BMS PCB, we find a thermal conductivity pad transferring heat to the heat sink which is also connected by thermal glue to the exterior of the housing.

Pouch cells neatly arranged and laser welded to the bus bars

The disappointing part after removing the bottom cap: clear glue potting all of the pouch cells. It looks like they filled the case up with glue and then dropped the cell groups into place, which displaces the glue up to around 75% of the height of the aluminum case. Pretty much impossible to remove these cells.
