I recently had the opportunity to repair another QuietKat ebike battery and I have to say that the build quality on these battery packs is not good. A pretty sure sign of poor engineering on the many battery packs I've opened up is a lot of black silicone goop. I guess they just figure that its best to just fill in all the voids with the silicone goop and that the battery is just going to last forever??? Nothing reeks more of poor quality than a battery pack slathered in silicone goo and the QuietKat in this repair is no different.
To start with, I had to use my press to get the cell groups out of the aluminum extrusion due to the liberally applied silicone goo and boy was I in for a treat once I did. Feast your eyes on the poor quality construction throughout!

Now, I know that these things are mass produced and built as fast as possible and they just aren't manufactured to be opened, repaired or rebuilt. I guess I'm just pushing back on that as a sustainable model. I'd like to see standards for repairability on these packs and honestly, it really wouldn't take that much more effort to make them repairable.
Fortunately, the BMS on this one was still good and the pack just needed a reset and some wiring repairs and it's on the way back to the customer. But wow, what a rats nest of wires inside!
