Printing Prototypes

Writer's picture: DaveDave

The refinement process of the prototype cell holders is slow, but steady. Overall, I'm happy with the PETG prints, though getting the sizing, shrinkage, and other variables correct has taken much longer than I initially thought. I saved all of the prototypes in the pic below and by my quick calculation, there's roughly 540 hours of 3d printing represented here (27hrs per half x 20 cell holder halves)

I am, however, hopeful that I can get onto the spot-welding phase of the project soon as I know there will be some refining of the nickel plates needed to get this into production. My engineering job takes up most of my mental bandwidth, but I'm thankful for the opportunity to move this project forward as time permits. With all of the snow on the ground here in Utah, I can't ride anyway, so I might as well be prototyping. Let's see if I can get a functional prototype into my MX3 by spring!
